Join us weekly to learn Bollywood Dancing
What is Bollywood dancing? Bollywood dancing is a commercial name for modern Indian dancing. It's a combination of classical Indian dance (which is the base), folk dancing such as Bhangra and sometimes has a Latino and Arabic influence. It's fun and very expressive and there's a lot of deep meaning behind music in the films. You can actually express what the music means, through the graceful movements of the body.
Where: Mountain Secondary School, 60 Caledon Ave, Hamilton, Ontario

Celebrating South Asian Heritage on May 14th, 2011 - Hamilton Spectator and Stoney Creek News articles
As the date of our May 14th, 2011 Hamilton and May 15th Stoney Creek South Asian Heritage Celebration draws closer, you can find two new articles in our local Hamilton Spectator and Stoney Creek News.
The local South Asian Heritage Association is hosting a celebration of the subcontinent’s rich cultural heritage this Saturday.
The event, timed to coincide with South Asian Heritage Month, will feature food, fashion, song and dance from several nations, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Community members have an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the culture, heritage and traditions of the South Asian community, as part of South Asian Heritage Month.
“South Asian Heritage Month celebrates the diverse cultures of countries in the South Asian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and other countries,” said South Asian Heritage Association of Hamilton and Region committee supporter Khursheed Ahmed.
“Activities include cultural programs, dances, music and food presentations.” The main event in Stoney Creek is Bhena de Mela (Ladies Day) on Sunday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at the Grand Olympia Hospitality and Convention Centre.
Enjoy (and please leave your supportive comments).
